The Power of Movement

Throughout her 10+ years in academia, Sunny experienced extreme burnout on multiple occasions. And while many interventions helped, like therapy, cultivating community, and prioritizing rest, nothing compared to moving her body mindfully, in community with others, and with the guidance of an expert teacher.

Movement, specifically yoga and Pilates, helped her realize that many other burned out professionals need to move their body in order to reconnect to themselves, their desires, and ultimately their loved ones. She experienced mindful movement as an on-going healing practice, something that was so much more than just fitness. So much so that she decided to embark on her own journey of becoming certified in multiple modalities of mindful movement practices, with the goal of sharing it with other professionals who are normalizing working themselves into the ground.

Through yoga and Pilates, you can not only engage in fitness, but you can also heal the parts of you that are exhausted and disconnected from your true self. Sunny believes that when you are rested and more deeply connected within, your authentic light can shine, increasing your overall happiness with yourself, and therefore with others.

She explains movements clearly, offers modifications for all levels, and keeps the sessions engaging and fun. I always leave feeling stronger, more flexible, and completely refreshed. I only wish she had more classes on the schedule- I'd take them all!

  • I deeply enjoy Sunny’s style of teaching. She carries the class through challenging movements by communicating the why (through her understanding of biomechanics as well as reverence for philosophy) and makes you feel like she’s in it with you (acknowledging “this is hard!”). I arrive with curiosity (what will she come up with next?!)… power through with her encouragement/sense of humor/hype playlist… and leave feeling empowered/wanting more.   • I’ve had the pleasure of taking Sunny’s hot pilates class and one thing I can say is you won’t regret it. The vibes are always (chefs kiss) the class challenges you to push yourself whether it’s your first time trying pilates or you’re a regular. Sunny is also very good at reading the room and will pivot quickly if she sees something isn’t working. Also her playlist are always on point and when it doubt you can always just twerk it out. Highly recommend 10/10!
